10 days No Sugar, No Starch, uh, No Caffeine

I made it to day 10 of no sugar, no starch, no caffeine. Well, I must confess that I did have 3 diet Cokes in one day. It was a weak moment. But I prevailed through a baby shower laden

with Little King sandwiches, Cheetos, no diet pop, chips and dips and the cake, my goodness the cake!

I overcame! I ate the inside of my sandwich and drank a glass of water. After the party, I bought a few bags of pork rinds. I can’t have the chips but I can have the dip with some pork rinds....yummo!

  1. Becky, how long is this diet? I don't think I could survive without my morning coffee. I have struggled with healthy eating through out my life time. It is tough to stick to a cleansing diet when no one else around you is helping. Food is a great downfall in our culture. We as a country eat more, waste more, process more food than any other country on the planet. The food we buy in the store that's supposed to be healthy has labels to tell us it's caffeine free, gluten free, sugar free but there should also be a label required to say "nutrition free", don't you think. I know you grow and preserve some of your own food but really not many city or even country folks do that any more. Fast food has circumvented our home meal time. Good luck with your diet.

    Have a great healthy day.

  2. The hardest part of this way of eating is no caffeine. Honest.

I was just at a baby shower with chips & dips relish tray, sugary pop, Little King sandwiches, cake and ice cream. Everything looked and smelled so yummy. I ate the meat, cheese and veggies on the sandwich and tossed the bread. I drank water. I ate the veggies on the relish tray. I passed on the cake and ice cream. I want to look lean again and if that means no sugar, no starch, no caffeine then so be it.
I am eating very healthy but not by the "grain" people's standards. I eat a lot of fats and oils. Real butter, chocolate candy made from coconut oil and stevia, olive oil, salad dressings, bacon (a ton of bacon), summer sausage, eggs fried in tons of butter, cheese, and avocado. I do eat light too. Spinach with vinegar, kale sauted in bacon grease, green beans boiled in butter or bacon grease.
I drink 2 T of lemon juice, 2 T of apple cider vinegar in a quart of water almost every day. I probably shouldn't drink it as much as I do as the lemon juice and vinegar are very acidic, bad for the teeth but good for the body.
The only think I find my self craving is coffee or a soda pop. I usually satisfy my craving with a carbonated mineral water.
I am feeling well and I am slowly losing the subcutaneous and visceral fat stores that I do not need.
I am living healthy. It isn't easy but I'm worth the effort. ;)
